CESB-16014
This course provides a comprehensive introduction to thermal management in electrified vehicles (xEVs), covering the fundamentals of propulsion cooling in Battery Electric Vehicles (BEVs) and Hybrid Electric Vehicles (HEVs). Participants will explore key differences from conventional ICE vehicles, including cooling methods, system topographies, and climate control strategies such as heat pumps and vapor injection. The course addresses energy management, waste heat recovery, thermal storage, and the challenges of cabin heating, while also considering design, economic, and regulatory factors. It concludes with a comparison of thermal efficiency between xEVs and ICE vehicles and a look at emerging trends in thermal system design.
